SW Cedar Rapids to gain 145-acre logistics park

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA — Locally owned and privately held development group, Edgewood Logistics Park, announces a new industrial development for SW Cedar Rapids.

The planned 145-acre Cedar Rapids logistics park is situated at the northeast corner of Edgewood Road and 76th Avenue at 7525 Edgewood Road SW. Specifically designed for activities relating to transport, logistics and/or the distribution of goods, this development comes at a time industrial space is in short supply.

“As a result of the pandemic-related increase in e-commerce and the impact to the food industry, we’re especially excited about the opportunities this much-needed project will afford companies in the distribution and logistics business,” property marketing agent Dave Drown of GLD Commercial said. “The location is terrific, just two minutes from Highway 30 and five minutes from the I-380 airport exit.”

Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place next month and will kick off with the construction of a 200,000 square foot (SF) speculative building. “Having a high-quality industrial spec building available in the market will provide for an excellent recruiting tool for Cedar Rapids or expansion options for local companies,” Ron Corbett, business retention and expansion strategist, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance said.

The first building will be constructed as a state-of-the-art food-grade industrial facility. Garling Construction has been selected to serve as the construction manager of this inaugural building.

“This building will feature a 100% concrete panel exterior, highly efficient design/insulation, allow for a height of 36 feet of product storage and possess over 50 truck docks,” GLD’s Adam Gibbs said.

Once complete, Edgewood Logistics Park will house approximately 1.5 million SF of industrial buildings valued at more than $125 million.

“This development will be a wonderful addition to the SW side, and is an exciting new project to add to our city,” Cedar Rapids Mayor Brad Hart said. “Cedar Rapids is a strong and supportive business community, and we are proud local developers continue to invest in our community.”
